'Into the Wild' is more forgettable than wild

If you're looking for inspirational lyrics that help to reignite your faith, Manic Drive's new album is not the answer.

The Canadian rock band of brothers released its fifth studio album, 'Into the Wild,' on 7 November.

The album is full of songs with a nice, catchy beat that you'll probably find yourself singing the following week as you wash the dishes.

Although most of the songs are unoriginal and like many other songs by many other bands,, one in particular does stand out: the title track, "Into the Wild."

"It's a jungle up there, jungle up there, but we don't care about the lions...so we dare to be courageous, even though these roads are dangerous," the band sings, as they remind listeners that it won't be easy, but the sights are beautiful.

However, this is one of the only good songs.

In "Easier," the band points out that they don't expect things to get easier until God makes them stronger. But we know that even those who believe in God will face hardships. Job, one of the strongest men of faith ever, lost everything. God never promised that things would be easy for us, but that He would be there in our difficulties. Manic Drive doesn't convey this enough in its lyrics, but instead gives the impression that God makes us stronger and presto, things are easier.

There are several tunes throughout that, while catchy and upbeat, don't really bring much to the listener. Every song has repetitive lyrics, making the album an excellent choice for a dance party at church, but not one to listen to if you really need to be inspired in your daily walk.

Overall, 'Into the Wild' is forgettable. It could easily become one of those well intentioned albums that is lost in the sea of unknowns not even a year later. (Anyone remember Inhabited? And they actually had some really good lyrics.)

After 13 years of creating music, you'd think Manic Drive could come up with something much more memorable.
